And we knew. That's the part that stings.

Here's what I've noticed after 25 years of this work.
The guilt over everything we've avoided becomes one more thing keeping us from doing it. We judge ourselves for keeping our distance from God, and the judgment keeps the distance in place.
Trying harder doesn't touch it. Neither does promising ourselves we'll do better tomorrow.
Whatever it took us to get here is what it took. We're here now.
We're entitled to miracles. Not because we've earned them. Because of what we are.
