The Love We're Holding Back

Holding back from Love has its own particular loneliness.

It doesn't look like loneliness from the outside.

We have people.

We have a life.

We show up, we care, we're good to the people around us.

But Love, deep connection, intimacy, stays behind the wall in our heart.

We’re just too vulnerable, too fragile, to risk getting hurt again. So, we hold back.

Sometimes we hesitate when someone wants to get close to us and then the moment is missed.

We shut down, and protected our heart, and it left us with a life that’s lacking in Love and filled with limitations - and we don’t need to waste a minute on regret or analyzing the past. We’re moving forward into a life of profound and healing Love.

We don’t allow ourselves to take a risk in Love. It’s not worth it. The pain is too much.

They’re too eager,

They like me too much - there must be something wrong with them

They’re not smart enough.

They’re not spiritual enough.

So many reasons to reject perfectly imperfect people who would like to be our friends, love us, connect, have fun, and enjoy life.

Sometimes we feel it in the body. A tightening in the chest when someone says I love you. A sinking feeling when things go well for too long.

And we've tried. We've opened up again. We've had stretches where it felt easy and natural and we thought, this time it's different. Then something small happens, and we’re like a cat that hears a door slam and runs away - fast - then our heart closes again, and we're right back to managing how much of ourselves we let out.

“I knew it wouldn’t last.”

If you've ever thought, I should be past this by now - you're SO not alone. Almost everyone is doing some version of this. Most of us learned to do it before we were old enough to know what we were doing. We reject wonderful people without even giving them the tiniest bit of a chance.

The Spiritual Power of This Moment

We're still in the long light of summer - the season before the turn, when something in us finds a yearning to lighten up.

A Course in Miracles teaches that Love is what we are. Not something we earn, not something we're issued in limited quantity, not something that runs out if we spend it on the wrong person.

Which means the holding back was never protecting anything. It was only costing us.

Every day we guard the heart is a day we don't get to use it. That's the real price, and we pay it quietly, in small amounts, for years.

Whatever your relationship with Love is right now, the spiritual timing is the same. We can open now.

In This Deep Dive Workshop,

We'll Be Focused On:

  • Why the ego's promise of safety through distance is exactly backwards, and what happens when we reverse it

  • Healing the belief that loving fully is dangerous, at the level of mind where the belief actually lives

  • What happened the first time we decided it wasn't safe to love, including the decisions we can't consciously remember making

  • Forgiving ourselves for the years of holding back, without a single ounce of blame

  • How to open the heart without needing anyone else to change, apologize, or prove themselves first

  • Feeling safe as a result of loving freely, not as the thing we have to achieve before we're allowed to begin

This Workshop is For You If:

  • You're tired of the careful distance and the energy it takes to maintain it

  • You'd like to love the people in your life without one hand on the door

  • You're willing to look at what you decided about Love a long time ago

This Workshop is NOT For You If:

  • You're looking for a way to make other people safer to love

  • You'd like reassurance that your guardedness is justified

  • You believe you'll open your heart once the right person finally earns it

If any of that lands - we understand. Come when you're ready.

What Makes This Different

Forget learning to read people better.

Forget waiting until you feel safe enough.

Forget deciding who deserves your heart.

This isn't about improving our judgment about other people. It's about healing the belief in the mind that says Love is a risk we take rather than what we already are.

The ego's order of operations is get safe first, then love. That order has never once worked, for anyone, in the history of trying it, because there's no amount of safety that satisfies a mind that believes Love is dangerous.

A Course in Miracles reverses it. We open, and the safety comes with the opening. Not because the world became guaranteed, but because we stopped depending on the world to guarantee it.

Peace replaces the vigilance. Warmth replaces the careful distance. And the heart we've been protecting for all these years finally gets used for what it's for.

I spent a long time believing I was an open person.

I was warm. I was generous. I told people I loved them.

And I couldn't have told you, back then, that I was also keeping a small piece of myself in reserve. It wasn't a decision I remembered making. It was just how I'd always done it, and it felt like wisdom.

What I found out is that the piece I was holding back was the piece I most needed to give.

The work I'd like to do with you in this workshop is the work that opened that door for me. It didn't require anyone in my life to change. It didn't require me to become braver. It only required genuine willingness, which is a much smaller thing than it sounds like.

I'd like to share that liberation with you.

With so much Love,

Jennifer 💜

Bo Stewart

"I felt empowered by the sharing and am making changes in my life to heal these feelings of unworthiness and experience more happiness and joy. Working in a group was a powerful experience for me, it allowed me to express myself in a non-judgmental environment and feel connected . Everyone shared the same feelings. In the past I secretly thought I was the only one experiencing thoughts and feelings of unworthiness."

A year later and I’m still experiencing the results! It was a profound moment for me, and I totally believe it was the workshop that made it happen."

This Is Your Moment of Decision

You've been careful for a long time. Long enough to know what it costs, and long enough to know it hasn't made anything safer.

The door doesn't have to stay where it is. It's not locked from the outside.

Come to the workshop. We'll open it together.

You get to decide.

P.S. A Course in Miracles tells us: "The opposite of love is fear, but what is all-encompassing can have no opposite."

The fear was never the equal and opposite of Love. It never had that kind of standing. And a belief that was never true in the first place can be released.

Let's open together. 💜
